#13: DO MORE WITH LESS

You probably know it better than I do, but when start your entrepreneur journey, you usually don’t have a lot of money. And yet, you have to create your company and make it live until the first incomes begin to arrive (if it happens before 3 years you are very lucky!). So what are you doing in the meantime?

Well you compose with what you have, you do a lot with little.

The market will not wait for you, things are progressing and your competitors too. So you must continue to move forward and deliver, despite your low budget. And it is at this precise moment that you will become the master of the resourcefulness ! Being an entrepreneur means being resourceful and able to create, permanently and with everything. I experienced it a few days ago.

For the purposes of an article, I had to provide to my interlocutor packshots (photo of the garment alone) of some of our products. I remember a few years ago, when I had to make packshots of my products, I had to really think. A budget of 300 to 400 € was needed for 10 products. It does not look like much, but I assure you, in the budget of a young entrepreneur it’s huge. So often I ended up dropping. So when I was told about packshot a few days ago, I decided that this time around, no question of giving up, they were going to be done … by ME!

I used what I had in my possession:

–    An iPhone

–    A white background (white sheet, white table etc.)

–    The PS Express application

I simply put my garment / accessory on the white background and I took a picture with my iPhone. Here are the raw photos, without retouching.

I then retouched them, always on my smartphone, with the application PS Express. A little light here, a little contrast and clarity there, and bam! Here are the end results.

It took me 20 minutes and it cost me … 0 € !! To achieve a good packshot, you need a good light (natural light is perfect), a smartphone, a retouching application. That’s all. You see, the lack of budget is not an excuse. You can do a lot with the little you have! Trust yourself and wake up the Mac Gyver in you !  🙂
